postpartum
“The greatest benefit of caring well for the mother after childbirth is that she will have a sense of well-being, strength and pride in herself… If the mother feels well, her recovery will be easier, she will bond better with her baby, establish a good milk supply, feel more about to make the adjustments to her role as a mother that the new baby’s arrival brings.”

“mothering the mother”
1:1 Postpartum support planning session
A 2-hour deep dive into your postpartum phase. It’s likely you’ve planned for your labour, but have you planned for the time after, when you bring home this little baby that changes your life?
We’ll discuss how you’d like your postpartum time to feel, realistic expectations (babies don’t love schedules either), setting up your nesting space, building your support village around you, asking for help and receiving it (!), tips for boosting oxytocin in the first few weeks, supporting your magic changing brain, self-care practices, and nutritional aspects to support recovery and healing.
This conversation is guided by you and your questions, but I come prepared with an abundance of information and a template for you to fill in and save.
8 x in-home postpartum doula visits
These visits are entirely customisable and cater to you and your family’s needs, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. A postpartum doulas scope is wide, and support may look different every visit.
It can be holding your baby and prepping a meal while you rest, or holding you and giving you a shoulder to lean on. It’s running you a warm herbal bath, teaching you baby massage techniques, having a cup of tea together to let you voice all your successes & challenges, putting some fresh clean sheets on the bed, folding that overflowing basket of laundry, tidying up the kitchen and getting dinner prepared, or giving you an indulgent foot soak in a magnesium salt bath.
I will intuitively respond to your needs, moment by moment, whatever you need, we do it together. Visits are generally 3-hours long, and overnight stays are available.

FAQs
my partner has a few weeks off, won’t that be enough?
Your partner will also be going through the changes; emotionally, physically and mentally. Parenthood is challenging, and rewarding, but it takes a lot of energy.
A postpartum doula is there to help both you and your partner. Giving you a rest where needed, a helping hand, support, guidance, and referrals to professionals when needed.
It’s likely your partner will also be exhausted and need time to rest and recover. However, they will be there to support you in emotional ways that a postpartum doula may not be able to.
I have some family nearby, do i need a postpartum doula too?
Having family nearby is great, but sometimes it’s just not enough. Family generally have their own commitments too, and often times (without intending it) can bring their own biases and personal experiences with them. As a doula, I have been trained to look out for signs of distress, offer support in a way that is nourishing to your baby brain, and provide specific advice in the field of postpartum.
I don’t really know what kind of support I’ll be needing yet…
Motherhood is uncertain! And that’s okay. A postpartum doula offers customised care for you — my packages are designed to be tailor-made for what you’re seeking in your postpartum phase. I’ve got you covered.
I have other kids, can you help me with that too?
Yes. Sometimes you need uninterrupted time with your new baby; to rest, feed, bond, or bathe. I am happy to entertain other children for parts of my visits! I have 15+ years experience as a nanny to children of all ages.
Is it the same as just hiring a nanny, i think that’s cheaper?
Great question, but put super simply, it’s really not like that at all. First and foremost, I am there for YOU. The mother, the parents. I am mothering you, caring for you, feeding you, massaging you. I am not a babysitter, I am a doula; there to serve you.
I know that most visitors come and want to hold and gaze at your baby — and trust me, I love babies too — but I want to come and help you, however that looks for you.
